There’s a bitter cold that burns the skin, a bitterness that I can’t let in
You never know what fate might send on the wire
The wind is howling and the night’s a go, the type of night that bites the soul
You never know where you might roll and take fire

Questions’ churning, overflows and spills, Is tonight the night that I have to kill?
I hope I won’t but know I will if required
Concussion shocks in time and space, some will run but I know my place
I won’t see my brother’s face in the mire

Light and sound as I dive for the hole, was I just a second to slow?
They say when it’s time to go there’s no sorrow
Time slows to half speed at best, warmth flows from my neck to my chest
I know I’ll find peace and rest come tomorrow

It was A Daunting Night in Old Afghanistan
It was A Daunting Night in Old Afghanistan
It was a daunting night of blood upon the sand

Like the day in the night Tyger Tyger burning bright
Can you tell me what it is that you are after??
Seems like I’ve been here before I am knockin’ at that door
Like Molly Hatchet flirtin’ with disaster

You know that I don’t really want to be here
To see the things that I have done and seen here

But someone’s got to fight the fight of fear here

We’re on fire in Afghanistan Hope’s tryin’ in Afghanistan
We’re ablaze in Afghanistan It’s a maze in Afghanistan

Been dropped into the maze Lost again in purple haze
Can you tell me what the band has started playin’?
My eyes are goin’ dim And my chances growin’ slim
And my only hope’s to raise the price their payin’

We will make… our…  way To the light... of.. day
With the last step they take here we’ll stay

With the last breath  they take we will say

Here upon this  clay We will fight to stay

Hear our hearts hear our hopes here we stay
Hear our hearts hear our hopes here we pray

Been trollin’ thru the ville Like a winter in Brazil
We are out of place and out of tune and rhythm
Tell that Lucy in the Sky that my cup is running dry
But I’m diggin deep to find some love to give ‘em

Life will come along and wake you to the night
To the darkness that’s inside of you – the things we try to fight
Life will tear you down in a hundred dark disguises
And time is all you have until the boat you’re in capsizes

And the weak will lose their will They’ll falter on the way
The strong ones hold on still And raise their voice to say

Do your worst, it’s an even bet
I’ll best you still, ‘cuz I’m not dead yet
Gonna bow your knee to a Higher Power
Better make your peace in your final hour

I was Born Fightin’     I was Born Fightin’

The stars will light the way to their mighty epitaph
But we can only pray and mask our fear to laugh
Now every word is true, there’s no way to deny it
You can’t win, ‘cuz in the end everyone of us will buy it

It’s an even bet No I’m not dead yet
Better take your shot Because ready or not
I was Born Fightin’ I was Born Fightin'

Hark! I hear the foe advancing, Barb'd steeds are proudly prancing;
Helmets in the sunbeams glancing, Glitter through the trees.
Men of Har-lech, lie ye dreaming? See ye not their falchions gleaming,
While their pennons gaily streaming Flutter in the breeze?

From the rocks rebounding Let the war cry sounding
Summon all at Cambria's call, The mighty foe surrounding.
Men of Harlech, on to glory! See, your banner fam'd in story
Waves these burning words before ye, DEATH before we yield!"

Marines of Workhorse end your slumber Clouds of war are peeling thunder
Soon to rend the sky asunder Battle is at hand!
Marines of Workhorse dawn is breaking Home and comfort we're forsaking
The Hist'ry of the Corps we're making 8th Marines to land!

From the swamps embarking The nation's call we're harking
To foreign shores we'll take once more The standard we'll be marking
Marines of legend and of story more than duty is our glory
Keep these words ever before ye Faithful we will stand!

I know a love that’s worlds away she sleeps the night I wake the day
She’s written on my heart, written on my heart
When the night wind blows the sand and questions everything I am
I’ll never move my heart, never move my heart

I’m standing right here, I’m standing right here (echo)
Caught up in a larger world where orders come and hope’s deferred
A soldier’s what I am, doing what I can
I’m standing right here, I’m standing right here  (echo)

And in the stormy and dark night I’ll be by your side
Never be lonely, you’ll never be cold, our love will always shine

They say the world is growing small but it doesn’t seem that way at all
This place is just like Mars she sees the sun I see the stars
Pulled and strained still not breaking I long for you my soul is aching
Some may fall apart but I’ll never move my heart

I’m standing right here, I’m standing right here (echo)

In the trenches thoughts of you keep my world from falling through
I’m a soldier in the sand but that’s not all I am
I’m standing right here, I’m standing right here (echo)

Walking in the sun or under waning moon
Holding hands with faithfulness it’s always me and you
Oh it’s written on the wall or carved out in a tree
With letters on the sidewalk it’s always you and me
I’m standing right here, I’m standing right here

Far across that desert plain Burned beneath the sun
Whirling winds thru hearts of stone the struggle’s just begun
I see them run thru lonely street and I hear them weep and moan
I know that one day it might be me so I pray that mercy come

Pray for me, I am a soldier in the sun
Pray for me, until all my work is done
Desperation and resolve help me to survive
I can only trust in my God to keep this fire alive
Is it dust and wind or Angels on my side

High upon a golden throne I walked with mighty men
I ruled as well as any man but I struggled with my sin
Now I walk with lowly men I sing their humble song
I walk the roads among them and I pray to right their wrongs

Angels we have heard on high
Sweetly singing oer these plains
Amidst the death that’s flying by
The breathless beat of angel’s wings
And I know And I know
And I know And I know they’re here with me

Many miles away my heart is sailing ocean waves
We’re many days apart
And there’s a longing deep within to see my love again

The clock ticks through the day as the dusty ground looks for the rain
I’m marking off the days
Till the one I’m dreaming of can fill my cup again

I long to be with you, I long to see you too
You’re my own, my dream, Angelita
There’s a part of me in you, What can come between us two?
We are one, my love, Angelita

The dawn is drawing near and I arise to meet the day
But with half a heart I fear
The best of me has gone away to sail the ocean breeze

So I’m a rock thrown in the sea needing tenderness to recover me
But only while you’re gone
On your return I’ll find myself and finally go back home

While you’re gone you’re not unseen I hold you in my mind
Separated yet somehow we’re one
There’s a cord from me to you that never is untied
Separated yet somehow we’re one

When Johnny comes marching home again, Hurrah! Hurrah!
We'll give him a hearty welcome then Hurrah! Hurrah!
The men will cheer and the boys will shout
The ladies they will all turn out
And we'll all be glad when Johnny comes marching home

The old church bell will peal with joy Hurrah! Hurrah!
To welcome home our darling boy, Hurrah! Hurrah!
The village lads and lassies say
With roses they will strew the way,
And we'll all be glad when Johnny comes marching home

I said Hey, I said Ho!  Johnny I know you had to go
And crush the foe in the face of Solomon Grundy
I said Way, You said Wo!  Now you’re home let’s start the show
Hoist the flag and rise just like on Sunday

Get ready for the Jubilee, Hurrah! Hurrah!
We'll give the hero three times three, Hurrah! Hurrah!
The laurel wreath is ready now
To place upon his loyal brow
And we'll all be glad when Johnny comes marching home.

Let love and friendship on that day, Hurrah, hurrah!
Their choicest pleasures then display, Hurrah, hurrah!
And let each one perform some part,
To fill with joy the warrior's heart,
And we'll all be glad when Johnny comes marching home

You say Make I say More of the blessed winds of victory blow
Till the enemy is finally done in this little soiree

Who hasn’t looked to the heavens Who hasn’t looked to the seas
Saying in their heart I long to go
Who hasn’t asked the great questions Who hasn’t searched for the answers
Saying deep inside I want to know
What could it mean What could it mean to you and me

I ‘m just the everyman traveler joining in this high adventure
Try my best to solve this mystery
What can I be, What can we be, I want to see

Will you carry me where the stars will shine
Will you take my wings of burden I believe I’m supposed to fly
Will you carry me where new suns will rise
We’ll be opening our spirits as we’re lifting up our eyes
If you carry me, carry me

This is a road full of struggles; challenges still yet to be known
Tis always the way of discovery
But who will search for brighter tomorrows, seeking horizons unseen
Light the way for all of humanity
What could it mean What could it mean to you and…

Me, we’ve walked in footsteps of giants they have gone before us so well
Now we stand at the crossroads of ourselves
Can you hear us say can you hear them say will we be free?

We honor all our comrades who have fallen on their way
Seeking for the knowledge that can make a brighter day
Those who have died before us in the search for foreign lands
The risks are very great but this question always stands

Will you carry me to the start of light
We’ll go deep into the heavens we’ll go far beyond our dreams
If you carry me, carry me

Ooh-rah          Ooh-rah          Ooh-rah          Ooh-rah

From the Halls of Montezuma to the shores of Tripoli

We will fight our country's battles in the air, on land and sea.
First to fight for right and freedom and to keep our honor clean.
We are proud to claim the title of United States Marine.

Ooh-rah                                  Ooh-rah

Our flag's unfurl'd to ev'ry breeze From dawn to setting sun
We have fought in ev'ry clime and place Where we could take a gun.
In the snow of far off northern lands, And in sunny tropic scenes,
You will find us always on the job -  The United States Marines.

Thank God for the land we love and for those who keep us free
Stand tall now America God’s shed His grace on thee
Remember how far you have come and the price it took to be
Land where all my fathers died you gotta let freedom ring

Here's health to you and to our corps, Which we are proud to serve;
In many a strife we've fought for life, And never lost our nerve.
If the Army and the Navy Ever look on Heaven's scenes,
They will find the streets are guarded By United States Marines.

Doug he was a man among men, no worse enemy, no better friend
He never gave counsel to fears, he was wise in ways beyond his years
He stood on that tank like a king, calm as an Angel in the devil’s ring
He called his boys’ fire in true, he led them thru hell and his legend grew

The Lion of Fallujah is no more, he fell in the war
The Lion of Fallujah is no more, no more
The Lion of Fallujah is no more, he fell in the war
The Lion of Fallujah is no more, you should have heard him roar

He dutifully answered the call, at the bugles’ sound he was standing tall
When he left his little Fallyn behind, so close he held her one last time
He was America’s great legionnaire, he was strong and brave and just and fair
In Arlington they laid him down, and the Lion rests in hallowed ground

He brought his Marines through the fight, of them he was so proud
And when one of them was lost to the night, he cried out loud
